Max’s Mischievous Toilet Roll Crafts

Hi folks! I’ve been getting really creative lately. I mean, what can I say? I’m a creative guy.

So, I have a riddle for you. What’s on a roll but has no wheels? No, the answer isn’t me falling down a hill. It’s toilet roll!

Here at MAOAM, we see potential in toilet rolls. Why throw them away after you’ve used the last sheet? Add the rolls to your craft box. And let the fun (and mischief) commence.

Here are some super mischievous toilet roll crafts. Try them out with your kids and get your creative juices flowing.

Pinball Bowling

This one is right up my alley. (Sorry, you must know by now. I can’t stop with the puns.)

Ok, here’s how you do this one.

All you will need is:

  • Ten empty toilet rolls – know it’s a lot. You might need to ask a neighbour if they have any spare. Sorry, there I go again…
  • White paint
  • Red paint
  • MAOAM pinballs

Paint the rolls white of course. With two red lines going round the top so that they look just like pins.

Then all you have to do is set them up. Place one pin in the first row. Then two pins in the second row. Three in the third. And finally, four in the fourth.

All that’s left to do, is grab your MAOAM Pinball bowling balls. And challenge the kids to a bowling match.

Hey, you know I actually used to work in a bowling alley? It wasn’t for long though. I was tenpin.

Halloween Decorations

Halloween is one of my absolute FAVE days. It’s a day dedicated to being super mischievous. Plus, I can get my hands on extra MAOAM from the neighbours, so that’s a bonus.

Give your house a mischievous and spooky makeover with this one. Grab your toilet rolls. And challenge the kids to come up with the spookiest and kookiest Halloween character imaginable.

All you will need is:

  • As many toilet rolls you have
  • Paint
  • Halloween designs/examples using Google for inspiration
  • Crafts
  • Potentially string

Want some examples? I got you covered.

Paint your toilet roll orange. Cut out three triangles from black cardboard for the eyes and nose. Then cut out a toothy grin. Stick them all to the toilet roll. Add a green leaf sticking out of the top of the roll. And you’ve guessed it. You’ve got yourself a scary pumpkin!

Or, why not paint your toilet roll black. Cut some wings out of black cardboard. Draw on a creepy smile and two eyes for a hair-raising Halloween bat!

For some extra mischief, add some string and hang it close to dad’s face whilst he’s sleeping. He’ll get the shock of his life. Mwahahaha.

Toilet Roll Light Show

Ok, I’m going to get this all out in the open. I don’t trust shadows. Yeah, they’re pretty shady.

But shadows and light can be used to make some cool shows. Introducing: the toilet roll light show!

All you need for this one is:

  • 1 toilet roll
  • Clingfilm
  • Rubber bands
  • Shaped moulds/stickers/toys – You can even cut out your own designs using cardboard. Just make sure your shape is small enough to fill the bottom of the toilet roll.
  • Small torch or mobile phone

Okay folks, grab your sticker shapes or moulds. Place them in between two sheets of clingfilm. Use a rubber band to wrap around the bottom of your toilet roll.

Then, get ready, shine your torch or mobile phone light at the opposite end pointing up to the ceiling to create some seriously cool shadows. Of course, make sure your lights are turned off. Hey, this one be great for Halloween…

Enjoy throwing those shapes!

Spy-Mode Binoculars

Name’s Max. Mischief Max.

Oh yeah, I’m a spy. Being a mischief maker is just my side gig.

For this one, I want YOU to channel your inner spy. Let’s make some binoculars!

All you need for this one:

  • Two toilet rolls
  • String
  • Crafts

Grab two toilet rolls and decorate them. Now, if you take your spy work seriously like me, you might want to make your binoculars camouflage. Or go full on MAOAM and make it as colourful as you can.

Then tie both rolls together using string. That’s it! You’ve got yourself some binoculars. So cool!

Mischievous Desk Organisers

Word on the grapevine is a lot more parents are working from home! What’s better than bringing some fun and mischief onto your boring desk…

All you need for this one is:

  • Toilet roll
  • Felt tips
  • Crafts – anything you have at home but certainly recommend stick-on googly eyes
  • Cardboard
  • Glue
  • Scissors

First, let’s cover up the bottom of the toilet roll so pens and pencils can be held in. Draw around the bottom of your toilet roll on the cardboard, cut out and stick on with glue!

When dry, time to decorate your desk organisers. I’m not talking pretty or cute designs. I want to see funny faces, monsters and who knows, maybe me? Using all the crafts you have at home – googly eyes are my all-time favourite for making something ten times funnier.

Hey, if you already have a desk organiser then why not use this as your MAOAM sweets holder? We all need MAOAM breaks when working. In fact, time for mine now…

Come on, how super cool are toilet rolls? The craft ideas are endless. I may even be back soon with a part two. Watch. This. Space.

You know what else would be super cool? If you shared your mischievous makings with us at MAOAM on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.

Lots of love, Max!
